An extension was built to the existing warehouse of the Meyson company (exhibition contractors) containing space for a design studio, a canteen, a conference room and offices. The double-height space contains an entresol. The openness and spaciousness of the interior is accentuated by the use of light colours and clear/sandblasted glass.
The extension is a simple box with a front facade of glazing in wooden frames. A six-metre tall frame in front of this glazed facade contains solar shading panels made of perforated aluminium. The panels can be rotated individually. This produces a facade of variable appearance i.e. more open or closed according to the position of the individual elements.
The autonomy of this architecture is emphasized by elevating the building several centimetres above ground level. A slender steel footbridge leading to the entrance suggests that the building has just been raised off the ground.
